The Long Awaited Labor & Birth Video of Elijah

January 25, 2008 I went into labor around 5am My big sister Shaunna had been watching my kids for a week after my first trip to the hospital and 14 hours of unprogressed labor past 4cm. I was exhausted and the girls couldn't understand. They missed me by Thursday and I brought them home, so ofcorse labor started that morning. It was raining, so my Brother in Law got to be off work so he took Krisalyn, Gabriella, and took them to his house. Many of my plans changed when my support people were unable to come. But my mom, sister and acting doula Camron came to the house and we headed off to the hospital. The day wasn't too long, it was hard but I am so thankful that Breaunna and her cousins Joshua and Caitlyn were able to be there. I am very glad my big sister was there. Her continuous support really got me through it so easily. My mom as always was encouraging and just wonderful. And Camron, although I was her first birth, she massaged the right spots and never stopped or left my side. Even my doula Kathy who was unable to make it to the birth was awesome through phone support. My sweet husband was always there, even if he was filling the tub he was there for some pressure points or a hug or just to hold my hand. Despite being in the hospital we were left alone exept for an occational heart tone check. I walked, swayed, bounced, stomped, relaxed, and laughed my baby out. Where Do Babies Come From?

If you silently listened to my almost 4 year old daughter and her 3 1/2 year old cousin today you just might find out. Since the pregnancy and birth of our son Elijah who is now 4 months old, it's not unusual to see the girls prance around the house with a ball or a baby doll up in their dress.

We prepared them for Elijahs birth by letting them watch their own birth videos and the birth videos of syblings, and even a few natural birth attended by midwife videos. Well they absorbed and are now acting it out.

Above pictured, Madilyn is catching Gabriellas baby. The conversation went something like this.... Gabi sweetheart would you rub my feet and get some water Madilyn is your baby coming Gabi yes yes hurry the babys coming Madilyn (now acting as the midwife instead of husband) *( they have great imaginations) let me help you. She proceeds to pull the baby from under the dress. It cracks me up. So cute. Don't be surprised if I post pics of them nursing the dolls......they do that too. Such good little mommies.

Breaunna's day

Today was Fun Day at Breaunnas school Hyman Elementary in Duncanville. I started off the morning around 8am by loading up the kids in the stroller. Below, Krisalyn & big sister Gabi holding Elijah.

The girls had a good time and you could tell the teachers and students where happy to be out of the classroom. Music played and Gabi and Krisalyn danced as if no one else could see them. Oh to be young again.

Breaunna participated in all the events. I think some water games should have been included! Here she is doing the sack race.

They did the ring toss, the egg on the spoon, chalk drawings and hop scotch and then a snack of popcorn before heading to lunch. But not before a quick cat nap.

By then Gabi and Krisalyn were tired and Elijah was ready to nurse. But Breaunna looked at me with her big beautiful eyes ....

... and asked me to stay for lunch. So we did. It was worth it seeing her so happy and the girls were actualy good.

I got nothing today. Isn't he adorable. Specially when he's sleeping. I am sort of missing going to work. Just cause now I don't get to take pictures much. I need some clients. The kids don't cooperate for me very often when the camera comes out. Come on people, you know you need some photos!!!

Here it is, the first entry of many to come. This is being done on the advice of my big sis. I know I will enjoy an extra place to brag on my family or gripe :)
